Andhra Pradesh: Anakapalli SP instructs police officers to remain vigilant against sale of loose petrol, illicit liquor

Anakapalli Superintendent of Police, KV Muralikrishna, held a meeting with district police officers and instructed them to be vigilant after the polling ends against any untoward activity or sale of illicit liquor and loose petrol, informed a press release.

He said all the police officers should be alert to avoid any untoward incidents after exit polls come out on June 1 (last day of polling) until the results are declared on June 4.

The polling in Andhra Pradesh for 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats were held in a single phase on May 13. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.

The Anakapalli SP said during the meeting that stage programmes and the sale of loose petrol is barred. He also asked officers to check fireworks manufacturing shops to keep its sales under constant vigilance.

"Orders have been issued to prevent illicit liquor from being available in dhabas, hotels, and pawn shops in villages and to curb illegal activities like gambling, cockfighting, coin games, betting, etc," he added.

He highlighted that SHO and inspectors have held meetings with people at village level and explained about Model Code of Conduct and other concerned rules and sections.

The Anakapalli SP said that people should not spread inflammatory messages and baseless allegations on social media platforms and strict action will be taken against those doing so.

The Superintendent of Police also instructed that the FIRs and other records related to 2014 and 2019, General Elections and 2021 Local Body Elections should be identified and the accused should be identified, their current activities should be monitored and appropriate action should be taken against such people.

The Annapalli SP stressed that it is an offence to conduct and participate in betting on the wins and losses of candidates. Such persons will be kept under vigilance and strict legal action will be taken.

"The police officers and their staff in the district should be constantly alert, have full control over their respective jurisdictions, keep a thorough check on strangers and suspicious persons at lodges, within their jurisdiction and take appropriate measures to prevent any untoward incident," the SP said.
