Union Minister and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "transforming" the country into the fifth-largest economy in the world despite all the "headwinds and adversities" and said that in the coming two years, India will be the third-largest economy.

"When the people give a mandate to a leader... what does the leader do with that opportunity that he has been given to serve the people of India? And it is in that context that I submit to you that in the last ten years, in 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a mandate, given an opportunity by the people of India, as they had given before multiple times to the Congress party and other leaders, he (PM Modi) has done something significant with that opportunity that he received over the last ten years," Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

He further said that PM Modi "transformed " the nation.

"He has transformed our nation. He has not believed in incremental, small steps, but he has taken a nation that was the fifth most fragile economy in 2014, despite all the headwinds and all the adversities, transformed that country today into the fifth largest economy in the world. Over the next two years, we will be the third-largest economy. We will cross Japan, we will cross Germany and we will be in the top 3 countries in the world. America, China and India," he added.

BJP member and former IAF chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said that the Chinese policy of trying to get some land here and there is now history.

"Just some examples the audacious leadership, first was Balakot, it was not only a response to Pulwama in one stroke, but it also called the nuclear bluff of Pakistan. It showed the world how far we are going to go to ensure action against a terrorist act... Many of our strategists were saying that because Pakistan is nuclear, don't even think of crossing the border... What happened after Galwan...the Chinese policy of trying to get some land here and there is now history. Never ever is China going to succeed in any such attempt... When Galwan happened, Rafael was the strongest equipment that we had in our inventory and the Chinese knew it," former IAF chief Air Chief Marshal said.

Highlighting the remarkable progress made by India in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the last decade, Union Minister Hardeep Singh said that over 250 million people being moved out of multidimensional poverty is a staggering figure.

"When I was a civil servant when I was ambassador to the UN in Geneva and New York, I used to say that poverty tackling has been most successful because one large country, which is today a $19 trillion economy, was able to lift hundreds of millions of people out of poverty with a little help from India, Nigeria, etc," Puri said.

"But I think in the current phase, the Sustainable Development Goals realization or the Agenda 2030, it is India that is lifting and has already lifted 250 million people out of multidimensional poverty. The PM himself takes a meeting called Pragati, which he chairs every month, where the secretaries of the concerned departments report to him with precise timelines on where a project is and update him. This means that the poorest are brought into the economic mainstream by saturation of service and simultaneously enlarging the economic pie," he added.

Former Indian Navy chief RK Dhowan said that PM Modi has transformed our Maritime governance completely.

"We had no transhipment hub even after 75 years of independence and now 2 major transhipment hubs are being made. SagarMala strategy has developed our ports and made our Navy stronger. You will be surprised to know that today over 50 ships are being built in India today and we have transformed from a buyer's navy to a builder's navy," RK Dhowan said. (ANI)
