After two people got injured in a knife attack during the National Conference rally on Sunday, party leader Javed Ahmed Rana said that the incident exposed all the claims of the Centre that there is peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

Two people were injured in a knife attack by unknown assailants during a rally by the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch.

NC leader Javed Ahmed Rana said, "The government claims that there is peace in Jammu and Kashmir. This incident shows how true that claim is. The incident that happened today--we have never seen anything like that. Farooq Abdullah and the whole of the National Conference leadership were also present there. Suddenly, two goons came and stabbed two people. This is a security lapse. Every person is concerned since Article 370 was abrogated. The injured have been referred to Rajouri Medical College. They are in a serious condition."

The incident occurred at a time when National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah was addressing a public meeting.

Reacting to the incident, party chief Farooq Abdullah said, "Sitting in Delhi, they (BJP) used to say that Article 370 is responsible for terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. It has been five years since the abrogation of Article 370; have these attacks stopped? Innocent people are dying in these attacks."

Earlier, a former BJP Sarpanch, Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh was killed, and a couple from Jaipur were injured in two separate incidents of firing by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian and Anantnag districts, respectively, late on Saturday night.

In the second incident, a couple from Jaipur was injured in the Yannar area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

The police stated that the terrorists fired upon and injured a lady, Farha, a resident of Jaipur, and her spouse, Tabrez, at Yannar in Anantnag. The injured were evacuated and taken to the hospital for treatment. According to sources, the condition of the injured couple is stable. (ANI)
