One Naxal killed in encounter in Chattisgarh's Dhamtari

An exchange of fire broke out on Saturday between Naxals and Security Forces in the border areas of Dhamtari and Gariaband, in which one Naxal died on the spot and three to four Naxals were injured, Naxal in-charge SDOP RK Mishra said.

Mishra stated that they received intelligence indicating the presence of 15-20 Naxals in the border areas, planning a significant event.

Consequently, two police teams were dispatched for an operation, during which the Naxals initiated gunfire, leading to the death of one and injuries to three to four other Naxalites.

"Today, we got the information that 15-20 Naxals are present in the border areas of Dhamtari and Gariaband and are planning to carry out a big incident. Two teams were sent to carry out the operation. The naxals opened fire on the police. In retaliation firing by police, one naxal died on the spot and 3-4 naxals got injured... The search operation is underway in the jungle", Naxal in-charge SDOP RK Mishra said.

Yesterday, an encounter broke out between naxals and security forces in the jungle near Pidiya village in Chhattisgarh.

Last month a total of 18 Naxals were killed and three security personnel sustained injuries in an encounter that broke out in Chhattisgarh's Kanker. (ANI)
