Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat, Bhupesh Baghel, cast his vote on Tuesday and said that after 10 years of the Modi government, people are now extending their trust for the Congress' 'Nyaypatra'.

Baghel was accompanied by his family to the voting station in Patan.

Ahead of exercising his franchise, Baghel said, "I am going to cast my vote. The people are frustrated with inflation and unemployment. The BJP has no solution for these issues. Problems for women, farmers and youth have increased in the last 10 years. Now, the people trust Congress' manifesto, 'Nyaypatra'."

BJP's Sitting MP Santosh Pandey is in the electoral fray against Baghel from the Rajnandgaon constituency.

Rajnandgaon Parliamentary Constituency comprises a total of eight Assembly segments, which are Pandariya, Kawardha, Khairagarh, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, Dongargao, Khujji and Mohla-Manpur.

The BJP had registered victory on the seat in both the 2019 and 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Out of 11 seats in Chhattisgarh, the BJP bagged nine seats in the Lok Sabha polls in 2019, while the Congress won two of them.

During the 2019 elections, Santosh Pandey defeated Congress' Bhola Ram Sahu with a margin of 1,11,966 votes. Pandey got 50.7 per cent of the vote share.

Voting began this morning in Chhattisgarh's seven seats: Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir-Champa, Surguja and Raigarh seats in the third phase.

Notably, in this phase, more than 1300 candidates, including around 120 women, are in the fray.

In the 2019 general election the BJP won 72 of the 93 seats that go to the polls today. (ANI)
