Study reveals transformations in Indian society over past 5-yrs

In a collaborative effort involving professors from prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, and Rohtak, a comprehensive study has shed light on the profound changes witnessed by Indian citizens over the past half-decade.

Led by principal investigator Prof Dheeraj Sharma from IIM Rohtak, alongside co-investigators Prof Anand Kumar Jaiswal (IIM-Ahmedabad), Prof Rajat Sharma (IIM-Ahmedabad), Prof Saravana Jaikumar L (IIM-Calcutta), Prof Prem Diwani (IIM-Lucknow), Prof Suresh Kumar Jakhar (IIM-Lucknow), and Prof Siddharth K. Rastogi (IIM-Indore), this study represents a significant academic collaboration.

Supported by a team of dedicated doctoral scholars and research assistants, the study aimed to analyze various socio-economic parameters influencing the lives of individuals across India.

Data for the study was meticulously collected through a structured survey spanning 22 regions and states, targeting a diverse pool of 85,326 respondents, including farmers, casual workers, housewives, servicing employees, and students.

A follow-up physical survey specifically assessed casual workers' wage rates, providing a detailed economic snapshot.

Key findings from the study include government trust, infrastructure improvements, youth optimism and drug consumption, increase in agricultural income, health and sanitation, digital engagement, labour market improvements, public services satisfaction and travel improvements.

The survey report highlighted the top five significant changes in the past five years including respondents highlighted improvements in sanitation, road and rail travel quality, electricity, and digital access.

This comprehensive study not only celebrates areas of progress but also sheds light on ongoing challenges, providing valuable insights for policymakers, stakeholders, and the academic community.

As India continues its journey towards inclusive growth and development, the findings from this study are poised to inform future initiatives and reforms, shaping the nation's trajectory for years to come. (ANI)
