The Indian National Center for Oceanography and Research (INCOIS) has issued a red alert along the coasts of Kerala and south Tamil Nadu for the swell surge phenomenon, advising fishermen and coastal dwellers to be careful as there is a possibility of sea erosion.

The INCOIS has informed that as part of the swell surge phenomenon, there is a possibility of severe storms due to extreme waves in Kerala coast, south Tamil Nadu coast and low-lying coastal areas tomorrow from 02.30 am to 11.30 pm on Sunday.

Kerala Disaster Management Authority said that as the rough seas are likely to intensify, people should stay away from the dangerous areas along the coast.

It advised fishermen to keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbour and keep a safe distance between boats to avoid the risk of collision. It also said that the safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

It said that people should avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely during the swell surge phenomenon.

People should be excluded from all beaches from 10 pm tonight. This is the first time Kerala has had a red alert for the swell surge. (ANI)
