The Supreme Court organised 'Supreme Court Law Clerks' Moot Court Competition 2024' on April 27-28.

According to a statement, the Competition represented a novel initiative of the Supreme Court taken under the leadership of the Chief Justice of India to celebrate the 75th year of the Supreme Court.

"The initiative was aimed at enhancing the advocacy skills of Law Clerks and Law Researchers who are working in the Chambers of the Hon'ble Judges of the Supreme Court and in the Registry of the Court," an official statement said.

The Moot Problem dealt with a fictional scenario concerning issues involving both the Law of Contracts and Constitutional Law. The Preliminary rounds of the Moot Court Competition were judged by several practising advocates and public policy experts.

The Semi-Final rounds on April 28, 2024 were judged by two panels of senior lawyers including Aishwarya Bhati, an Additional Solicitor General of India.

The Final round of the competition was presided over by Justice PS Narasimha (Judge, Supreme Court of India) and Rebecca John (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India).

The Final round was also live-streamed on the Supreme Court of India's YouTube Channel. (ANI)
