Samajwadi Party candidate from Firozabad Lok Sabha seat Akshay Yadav showed confidence in winning the polls and said that the contest is "one-sided".

"Here, INDIA alliance and Samajwadi Party are winning elections and the contest is one-sided, there is no opposition, all sections of the society will vote for Samajwadi Party...this election is for change of power...we will win in Firozabad..," Akshay Yadav told ANI.

Polling in the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat is slated to be held in the third phase of general elections on May 7 and BJP has filed Vishwadeep Singh as its candidate against SP's Akshay Yadav.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party candidate from Mainpuri constituency Dimple Yadav said that Samajwadi Party and the alliance are performing well and all regional parties across the country are winning against the BJP.

Dimple Yadav is contesting from the Mainpuri seat, and her daughter Aditi Yadav, campaigned for the party in Mainpuri and urged the people to vote for the party.

As per the seat agreement between the Samajwadi Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Congress is contesting on 17 seats and the Samajwadi Party has the remaining 63 seats in the electorally crucial state.

In the 2019 general elections, the BJP emerged triumphant, securing 62 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, supplemented by two seats clinched by its ally Apna Dal (S). Mayawati's BSP managed to secure 10 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav's SP garnered five. Conversely, the Congress party secured only one seat. (ANI)
