Regarding the controversy over Indira Gandhi Mahila Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana, Himachal Pradesh Minister Jagat Negi on Sunday alleged that Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jairam Thakur had tried to stop the scheme by approaching the state electoral officer pointing out that the Model Code of Conduct is in place.

"The BJP is misleading the people of the state on the Rs 1,500 honorarium to women to be given by the state government. The Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur is now saying they have not stopped the scheme. I am releasing this photograph to you where Jai Ram Thakur along with his senior party leaders complained against this scheme to the Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal Pradesh," Negi told reporters here.

"I would like to thank the Election Commission for continuing the process of applications for this scheme. Now Jai Ram Thakur is in a state of fear as women may vote against them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is misleading the people of India on the Poll manifesto of the Congress Party," he added.

Showing photographs of the memorandum given by the BJP to the Chief Electoral Officer, Negi said that the BJP tried to stop it but did not succeed.

He said that this was the fact that the scheme had started before the Model Code of Conduct has been accepted by the Election Commission. Eligible women can now apply for it. Jagat Negi said that Jairam Thakur is afraid of the curse of women and is saying that the BJP has not done any work to stop the scheme.

Jagat Negi said that the level of politics that BJP and especially PM Modi has created is a matter of concern. He said that the Congress manifesto is being distorted to mislead the public about the country's issues. He said that the PM is lying.

Lies are being told about inheritance tax. He said that after coming to power, the BJP stopped property tax which caused a loss to the country. This has been done to exempt Adani and Ambani from this tax, he alleged. (ANI)
