Lok Sabha polls: Indian Youth Congress president casts his vote in Bengaluru

Indian Youth Congress (IYC) national president Srinivas BV cast his vote in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Friday.

Srinivas exercised his franchise and cast his vote in Rajajinagar, Bengaluru.

Later, taking to X he shared his photographs showing an ink-marked finger and said that he voted to "save the Constitution and democracy."

"I voted for India's future, I voted for Paanch Nyay, I voted for Jobs & Secular India, I voted to save my Constitution, I voted to save my democracy; I voted for INDIA. Have you voted yet? It's time to participate in the festival of Indian Democracy. Go out and exercise your right to vote," he wrote on X.

Polling began in 14 constituencies in Karnataka for Lok Sabha elections at 7 a.m. this morning. A total of 2.88 crore electors were eligible to vote in the 14 constituencies out of a total 28.

The Congress is contesting in all 14 seats, BJP has fielded nominees in 11 and its alliance partner JD(S), which joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in September last year, in three -- Hassan, Mandya and Kolar.

Besides the three, the segments where elections are being held on Friday are- Udupi-Chikmagalur, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South and Chikkballapur.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Congress and JD(S), which were in alliance and ruling the state back then, had secured just one seat each in these 14 segments. The BJP had won 11 and ensured the victory of a party supported independent candidate in Mandya. (ANI)
