"Will give a befitting reply with votes": AAP leaders stage protest over Delhi CM's arrest

Staging a protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said that AAP and the citizens of Delhi have resorted to the power of votes, to give a befitting reply to the Central government.

A month before the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, Aam Aadmi party candidate from New Delhi Somnath Bharti, along with other party leaders staged a protest outside the Hauz Khas metro station in Delhi, demanding release of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal.

"After one month, Lok Sabha election will take place in Delhi and AAP is carrying different ways into action to deliver its message to the people of Delhi. Today, we are standing near the metro station along with Somnath Bharti who is the candidate from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat with a hoarding that reads 'Jail ka jawab vote se," AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said.

The AAP minister further stated that the people of Delhi are really upset with the Chief Minister being put behind bars

Referring to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled in Delhi for May 25, Bharadwaj said that Delhites want to give a befitting reply to the central government with the 'power of votes'

"The people of Delhi are highly upset about the fact that their favourable CM has been put behind bars and they want to give a befitting reply to the central government. AAP and the people of Delhi have decided to respond with the power of vote," he said.

AAP candidate from the New Delhi seat Somnath Bharti also joined the protest and said "The people of Delhi protesting outside Metro stations as an awareness campaigns about the dictatorial government of the BJP which has subjugated democracy. The people need to answer this with their votes, and very soon the peoplf will answer with their votes on May 26 and ensure victory for INDIA alliance in all 7 seats."

The Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday extended judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and BRS leader K Kavitha in the excise policy case till May 7.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the ED in connection with a money laundering case in the alleged excise policy scam. ED alleged that the Aam Adami Party (AAP) is the major beneficiary of the proceeds of crime generated in the alleged scam. (ANI)
