Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Chief Naveen Patnaik started his election campaign on Wednesday from his home turf of Hinjili Assembly Constituency in Ganjam district and said that the coming decade will be a golden era for youth of the state.

Addressing a huge public rally, Naveen Patnaik spoke about bringing a youth budget as well. "The coming decade 2024 to 2034 will be the decade of Odisha. This decade will be a golden era for youths of the state as the government is giving emphasis on employment and skill development. We will bring a youth budget."

Hailing the state, the CM said that Odisha is the first state in India to present a separate agriculture Budget. He also that Odisha is a leading state in India in contribution of paddy to PDS system. "The Odisha government's Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) has become a model in the Indian healthcare system," he added.

Confident of winning the elections, the CM said that Jay Yatra starts from Hinjili.

"We will win by a big Margin. We will do well in Lok Sabha elections..." the Odisha CM said.

Taking a jibe at the opposition, Naveen Patnaik said that the opposition always misleads people. "Opposition are doing politics on all issues. They are always misleading people."

He added further, "Development is our identity. However, opposition parties are playing politics in every issue and are opposing developmental activities. They had opposed Ekamra and Shree Mandir Parikrama projects. People of the state are very well aware about it. No one can succeed in opposing development."

Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases, starting from Phase one on May 13, Phase two on May 20, Phase three on May 25 and the final Phase on June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.

Notably, in the 2019 Assembly polls, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) secured a significant victory with 112 seats, with Naveen Patnaik becoming CM for the fifth consecutive time since 2000. (ANI)
