Vijay Kumar Sinha, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister on Tuesday slammed the Congress and said that the makers of the Constitution would have never imagined that a former Prime Minister of the nation would say that the Muslims have the first right on assets of the nation.

Speaking with ANI, Vijay Kumar Sinha said, "Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Dr Rajendra Babu, who were the creators of the Constitution... would have never imagined that a former Prime Minister (Dr Manmohan Singh) under the pressure of Congress will say that the first right to the resources of the nation would be of the Muslims."

His response comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an election rally in Rajasthan linked Congress's manifesto plans with a 2006 statement of former PM Manmohan Singh on giving priority to minorities on the country's resources.

PM Modi, while addressing a public rally on April 21 charged Congress and said if Congress is voted to power, then they will conduct a wealth survey to seize the assets of people and take away their life-long savings. PM Modi said your mangalsutra will not be safe under Congress rule.

PM Modi was referring to Manmohan Singh's remarks made in December 2006 that the minorities, particularly Muslim minorities, should have first claim on the country's resources.

Slamming Congress' Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Sinha asked them to clarify the issue of conducting surveys of the wealth and properties. "The duo of mother-son, who used to remote control the PM, should answer to the country whose right it is on the resources of the nation? Will it be 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas' or will there be special rights to a particular community under the politics of appeasement."

Expressing his views on Tejashwi Yadav's statement in Purnia of either giving the vote to INDIA or NDA, Sinha said, "He (Tejashwi Yadav) is not even in the fight, hence he is jittery. His candidates are aware that they are not going to win the elections. He is in the fight anyhow to secure a second position."

It is interesting to note that while addressing a public rally and campaigning for Bima Bharti in Bihar's Purnia on April 22, Tejashwi Yadav had asked the people to either vote for the INDIA bloc or the NDA. Yadav's appeal was seen as an indirect dig at Papu Yadav who is contesting the Purnia seat as an independent despite having merged his party with the Congress.

He added further, "The community through which Tejashwi Yadav does politics, he doesn't want any youth from that community to lead ahead. He fears that if someone goes ahead of him, then what will happen to him... As he was born with a golden spoon, he does not have enough capacity and strength to compete."

Attacking the RJD, the deputy CM also asked Tesjashwi Yadav about the work done during the tenure of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. "These people are desperate to end unemployment for themselves and that is why they are spreading lies... For 15 years, his parents (Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi) were in power, and they were with Nitish Kumar for five-six years. For 20-21 years, what was their accomplishment? The accomplishments of NDA are clearly visible... Today, in every district, we have opened polytechnic colleges... We have made high schools in villages... Five departments were under your control but you didn't do any recruitment."

Talking about the upcoming elections, Sinha said, "Their family is going to be finished. They will not win even a single seat. 'Lalten bujhne wala hai.'"

Polling was held in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls at Jamui, Nawada, Gaya, and Aurangabad on April 19. Bihar, with 40 Lok Sabha seats, will also witness polling in all the remaining six phases of the general elections. (ANI)
