"LDF will surely win": Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan joined the public rallies held as part of the electoral campaign of MV Balakrishnan, the Left Democratic Front candidate running for Kasargod constituency, and said the party will surely win.

In a post on X, CM Vijayan said, "Joined the public rallies held as part of the electoral campaign of Com. MV Balakrishnan Master, the LDF candidate running for Kasargod constituency. The growing popularity of our front among the public was evident at the gatherings at Palakunnu, Thrikaripur Town, and Payyanur. LDF will surely win!"

The BJP has fielded ML Ashwini from the Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency, while Congress has fielded Rajmohan Unnithan.

Ashwini told ANI on Sunday," "Nowadays, the BJP is growing step by step in Kerala because PM Narendra Modi has brought a lot of developments in India, and the people of Kasaragod and Kerala are among the beneficiaries," Ashwini told ANI.

"After PM Modi became the Prime Minister, he brought drastic development in infrastructure. Not only infrastructure development, we have got some schemes also for the poor people," she said.

The Kasaragod seat comprises seven Assembly segments- namely Manjeshwar, Kasaragod, Udma, Kanhangad, Trikaripur, Payyannur, Kalliasseri.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Rajmohan Unnithan won the seat with a margin of 40,438 votes. He got 474,961 votes with a vote share of 43.00 per cent and defeated KP Sathishchandran from CPI(M) who got 434,523 votes (39.50 per cent).

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, P Karunakaran from CPI (M) won the seat and was polled 384,964 votes with a vote share of 39.48 per cent. (ANI)

All 20 constituencies of Kerala will go to the poll on April 26 in the second phase of the Lok Sabha election.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won 19 out of 20 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. While the Congress won 15 seats, its allies Indian Union Muslim League, won two seats, the Revolutionary Socialist Party won one, and the Kerala Congress (M) won one seat. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) won one seat in Alappuzha. (ANI)
