Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sunep C Jamir on Wednesday exuded confidence that their alliance would win Nagaland, adding that their mission is to win the polls by a huge margin.

"We have one Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland. The elections are to be conducted by our alliance partner, the NTPP. It is confirmed that our alliance will win in Nagaland. Now what we are concentrating on is: more on the margin. How much more margin can we have to win the elections, that is our mission now," Jamir told ANI.

He further said that all MLAs have come together for our alliance candidate to make him win the elections.

"We are working day and night in the true spirit of alliance. In the state of Nagaland, we have around 2000 plus polling booths. We have activated all our party workers for voting. We are very confident that our party is working day and night in collaboration with our alliance partner. All MLAs have come together to support this candidate of our alliance partner. So we are very positive," he said.

He further asserted that it is a matter of a few days and we will be celebrating the huge margin of victory.

The electoral fate of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Chumben Murry and INDIA (Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance) candidate S Supongmeren Jamir will be decided on April 19 in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had visited Kohima as part of his Bharat Jodo Naya Yatra in January this year.

The Lok Sabha elections are set to commence on April 19 to elect 543 Members of Parliament. Nagaland, situated in the north-east region of India, houses a single constituency in the Lok Sabha.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDPP-BJP coalition secured a significant victory over the Indian National Congress, emerging as the winner. The Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, the sole Lok Sabha seat in the state, remains unreserved.

Political leaders have also been referring to efforts for a solution to the Naga political issue. (ANI)
