Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has levelled serious allegations against BJP leaders, stating that the BJP started offering money to his party MLAs from the day he formed the government in Karnataka.

Taking to X on Monday, Siddaramaiah said, "Fearing defeat in the elections, BJP leaders are doing everything to lure our MLAs. They (the BJP) started offering money to our MLAs from the day we formed the government in Karnataka."

He further said that the BJP is going to lose in the Lok Sabha polls this time.

''Operation Lotus politics will not work anymore; their defeat is guaranteed," the tweet read.

"Vote for Congress!," the tweet added.

Earlier, on Sunday, claiming democracy is under threat in the country, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked the people to vote for the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls and "save the Constitution."

He said this during the election campaign 'Janadhwani-2' in Madikeri, Kodagu.

"Democracy is under threat in India. The obligation to save the Constitution is before all of us. This Lok Sabha election is an opportunity for us. We have to save democracy by defeating the BJP and making the Congress win," Siddaramaiah said.

"Any threat to the Constitution means a threat to the lives and future of women, the poor, the middle class, shudras, and the hardworking people of the country," he stressed.

Siddaramaiah urged citizens to seize the upcoming Lok Sabha election as an opportunity to uphold democracy by defeating the BJP-led central government.

Karnataka, with 28 Lok Sabha seats, will vote in two phases on April 26 and May 7.

In the 2019 elections, the Congress and JD-S alliance suffered a significant defeat, with the BJP securing a record 25 seats.

The upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases, beginning on April 19, with the vote count scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
