PM Modi considers entire India as his family: Rajnath Singh hits back at Lalu Yadav's "no family" swipe

In an interview with ANI, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that his party has always maintained decorum in politics.

On being asked about Lalu Yadav over his "no family" remark, the union minister said, "We have always maintained a decorum in our politics. The BJP has never crossed its limits. He crossed his limits."

"He (Lalu Yadav) crossed the limits. Modi ji considers the people of the entire India, as his family. This has been the tradition of our country. From the beginning, the sages and people of our country have considered family not only the people living on the borders of India but as a whole. The message of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam was given to the world only from our soil," Singh said.

He also said that his government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, does politics to build the nation.

"We do not do politics only to form governments, but to build the nation," he added.

Addressing a rally of the INDIA Opposition bloc in Patna, Lalu Yadav, recently hit back at the Prime Minister's charge of dynasty politics against Opposition parties, including RJD.

"What can we do if Narendra Modi does not have a family of his own?" he had said. "He keeps bragging about the Ram temple. He is not even a true Hindu. In Hindu tradition, a son must shave his head and beard after the death of his parents. Modi did not do so when his mother died," he had said.

After that, led by PM Modi, the BJP launched the "Modi Ka Parivar" campaign to counter Yadav's personal attack, in which the veteran leader said the Prime Minister has no family.

Singh, in the interview with ANI, also lauded the Uttar Pradesh government led by CM Yogi Adityanath and said that the latter has established stable governance.

"There were several political parties and the atmosphere was very different. There was a time in 1991, when Kalyan Singh ji was the Chief Minister, at that time, the Centre dissolved four state governments ruled by the BJP in this country after the structure of the Babri mosque was demolished. But you must have seen that since 2017, the Bharatiya Janata Party government has been working there under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath ji and it is working well and is playing an effective role," he said.

Political instability has marred UP since India's independence in 1947. Although the Congress won decisive majorities in legislative assembly elections held in 1952, 1957 and 1962, no chief minister completed a full term in the state.

After 1967, political instability became even more acute with the power rotating between the several parties. (ANI)
