"Impressed by Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra": Alamgir Alam after former BJP leader Ram Tahal Choudhary joins Congress

After BJP leader Ram Tahal Choudhary joined the Congress, Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam said that the former BJP leader was "impressed" by Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra.

"He did not say that he wants to fight the election, however, he mentioned the ideology of the Congress party, and he is impressed by Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra," Alam told ANI on Thursday.

Choudhary was welcomed into the party fold by the Chairman of the Congress Media and Publicity Department, Pawan Khera, in the presence of the party's Jharkhand in-charge, Ghulam Ahmad Mir and state president Rajesh Thakur.

Earlier today, former BJP leader Ram Tahal Choudhary joined the Congress party ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

On March 21, in a boost for Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, a sitting MP, two former MPs and a sitting MLA joined the party at the party headquarters.

Danish Ali, who won the last Lok Sabha polls from Amroha as a BSP candidate; former MPs Pappu Yadav and Lal Singh and BJP whip in Jharkhand assembly Jai Prakash Patel joined the Congress.

Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Assembly polls will also be held in four states. (ANI)
