Coming out hard on Congress leader Supriya Shrinate over her purported post on Bollywood Actor Kangana Ranaut, BJP leader Shaina NC has said that it's time we fight stereotypes.

She further asked, "Why can't a woman who comes from the film fraternity or the fashion fraternity, or any other profession join active public life?"

"It's time we fight stereotypes. Why can't a woman who comes from the film fraternity or the fashion fraternity or any other profession join active public life? It is with the sentiment of wanting to do something good for your country that Kangana Ranaut has chosen to join the BJP, and it is an apology of a situation in which you have a woman leader from another party trying to stereotype and talk about her body parts," she said in a video posted by her.

Further, the BJP leader highlighted that Prime Minister Modi has given ample opportunities to women from various backgrounds.

"The time has come for us to unequivocally speak up against stereotypes, against women who are typecast to be bad from a particular industry. The time is to be judged on your work and in this politics of performance, Prime Minister Modi has given ample opportunities to women from various backgrounds and the voter is smart enough to judge them on what their convictions are, what their work is, and not on how they look," she added.

Meanwhile, in the midst of the uproar, Supriya Shrinate, who holds the position of Chairperson for Social Media and Digital Platforms of the Congress party, took to X to issue a clarification regarding the comments about Kangana Ranaut. She emphasized that anyone familiar with her character would understand that she would never make such remarks about a woman. Shrinate stated that someone had gained access to her accounts.

"Someone who had access to my meta accounts (FB and Insta) posted an absolutely disgusting and objectionable post, which has been taken down. Anyone who knows me will know I would never say that for a woman. However, a parody account that I have just discovered misusing my name is being run on Twitter which started the whole mischief, and is being reported," she said. (ANI)
