"Doul Utsav holds special significance in hearts of every Assamese," CM Sarma extends Holi greetings

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday participated in the Doul Utsav (Holi festival) at Barpeta Satra and extended greetings.

"I extend my warm wishes and congratulations to everyone on this exciting occasion of Holi. This festival is especially celebrated in the Barpeta district of our state. In Assam, Holi is also called Doul Utsav or 'Phakuva'. Here, Holi is celebrated in the same way as the Lord used to celebrate it," the CM posted on X.

Expressing his delight at being part of this year's celebrations amidst a large gathering, he invited everyone to experience the unique spirit of Holi at Barpeta Satra.He highlighted that the Doul Utsav in Barpeta holds special significance in the hearts of every Assamese.

Expressing his feelings, he said, "Blessed to have been a part of this year's festivities along with a sea of people. I invite everyone to visit Barpeta Satra and experience Holi here."

On the auspicious occasion of Doul Purnima, the Chief Minister also offered prayers "for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Bharat."

The entire state of Assam celebrated the festival of Holi with great enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the country's citizens on the eve of Holi on Sunday.In a post on social media platform, X,

PM Modi said, "I extend my Holi wishes to all my fellow citizens of the country."

"May this traditional festival, ornamented with colours of affection and harmony, bring new energy and enthusiasm into all your lives," he said.

Holi, a festival celebrated with as much fervour in the country as it is overseas, was celebrated on Monday. The festival is preceded by a ritual of lighting bonfires called Holika Dahan, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.

The festival is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is believed to have spent a considerable amount of time in a region called Braj in Uttar Pradesh. It not only replicates the spirit of Holi but also impersonates the timeless love of Radha and Krishna. (ANI)
