Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday took a jibe at the Maha Vikas Aghadi over seat-sharing for Lok Sabha elections and said that MVA leaders have been holding meetings for two months but haven't reached a decision yet and the BJP, in just one meeting, took 80 per cent decisions on seat-sharing.

"They (Maha Vikas Aghadi) have been having meetings since two and a half months but they haven't reached a decision yet. We made 80 per cent of the decisions in just one meeting. We will decide the remaining 20 per cent in the second meeting," Fadnavis told reporters.

Meanwhile, MVA leaders began arriving at Sharad Pawar's residence for a meeting that will be attended by Nana Patole, Balasaheb Thorat, Jitendra Awhad, Jayant Patil, Anil Deshmukh and Sanjay Raut.

Earlier on Wednesday, Maharashtra unit party President Nana Patole said that candidates have been finalised for 12 seats.

He also mentioned that Congress will hold a meeting with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar today to finalize the remaining seats.

Nana Patole said, "We have discussed at least 18-19 seats of Maharashtra, we have finalized at least 12 seats and on Thursday morning we have a meeting with Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. Final discussions will be held and all seats will be announced by Thursday or Friday."

The Congress has so far announced 82 candidates in two lists for the seven-phase Lok Sabha polls beginning on April 19.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi consisting of the Congress, the Sena (UBT) and the NCP (SPawar) has not detailed out their seat sharing agreement despite numerous meetings between alliance partners.

Maharashtra will vote in five phases for 48 constituencies in the upcoming general elections.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 23 out of 25 contested seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena secured 18 out of 23 seats.

The Lok sabha Elections 2024 would be held in seven phases starting on April 19 and ending on June 1. The counting will take place on June 4. (ANI)
