"Kejriwal is well educated but in law, his knowledge is zero": BJP's Bansuri Swaraj on ED summons to Delhi CM

After the ED issued the ninth summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bansuri Swaraj on Sunday said that Arvind Kejriwal is well-educated but when it comes to the law, his knowledge is zero.

Swaraj told ANI that whenever summons come under PMLA, it is mandatory by law that you respect them.

"CM Arvind Kejriwal is well-educated and so as his cabinet ministers, however, when it comes to the law, his knowledge is zero. The investigation that is underway, is in connection with a liquor scam as the allegations are grave. The charges say that AAP leaders have taken 100 crore kickbacks which is used only for AAP activities. If Kejriwal ji is the head of the party, he will have to answer in the investigation," she said.

"Whenever summons come under PMLA, it is mandatory by law that you respect them. Whenever you disrespect them, you are committing a new crime under section 174, she added.

Further, Bansuri Swaraj highlighted that by ignoring the previous eight summons of ED, Kejriwal has himself invited this case against him.

"The Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has disrespected the eight summons of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The petition has been filed by ED in court under IPC's section 174. The proceeding has nothing to do with the fact that ED summons are 'legal or illegal'. He (Arvind Kejriwal) has himself invited this case against him," she said.

Meanwhile, ED has issued another summons to Arvind Kejriwal for tomorrow in connection with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) money laundering probe, sources said on Sunday.

The summons issued to Kejriwal are under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of ED's ongoing probe into the illegal tendering in DJB and the laundering of alleged proceeds of crime.

Earlier this month, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of five candidates for the seven parliamentary seats of the national capital for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, fielding former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's daughter Bansuri from New Delhi. (ANI)
