Following the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) report on alleged foreign funding of madrasas in Uttar Pradesh, state madrassa board chairman Iftikhar Ahmed Javed said on Saturday that whoever is involved should not be spared.

The SIT Team, comprising three members, has revealed in its preliminary report that around 13,000 madrassas in the state are 'illegal'. The team has also suggested to the government that the madrassas be closed down immediately.

"If jakaad or chanda (funding) has been received through the illegal procedure, then it is a matter of law and order and whoever is involved in it won't spare at all; however, we must wait for the final report to come out," Javed told ANI.

"The probe is always on in Madrassa, despite all reports being available on the portal. Still, the investigation is underway, and the people of Madrassa are also used to it," he added.

The SIT report has been submitted to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The team was formed in October, 2023, by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the financial sources of madrassas in the state.
