Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday held a review meeting regarding the preparations for the Char Dham Yatra and said that information about bad weather forecast should reach the passengers on time adding that arrangements should be made to send alert messages on their mobile phones.

"Interests of the local people should also be kept in mind," said Chief Minister Dhami adding that SP/Additional SP rank officers should be deployed for smooth operation of traffic management in the four Dhams.

He further stated that shortcomings and problems that have come to light in the past years' journey should be removed this year by working through their experiences and planning.

"CCTV should be installed in entire pedestrian routes and sensitive areas," he said.

Chief Minister said that live monitoring of all four Dhams should be done from the government level and the disaster control room should be operated smoothly.

He further instructed that there should be regular cleaning of footpaths.

"Special cleanliness should be maintained in the toilets built on the Yatra route. The number of toilets should also be increased on the Yatra routes. Streetlights should also be installed on pedestrian routes. Besides, smooth drinking water supply arrangements should be made on the Yatra route," he said.

The Chief Minister said that the Char Dham routes should be improved before the Yatra.

"If any route is closed during the yatra, arrangements should be made to open it immediately. He gave instructions to assess the requirement of buses and taxis etc. for Chardham Yatra and make arrangements in advance," Dhami said.

The Chief Minister directed to expand health-related arrangements on the Yatra route soon.

"There should be the deployment of medical and requisite staff, arrangements should be made for life-saving medicines, equipment, portable oxygen cylinders and ambulances/air ambulances in temporary medical centres on the Chardham Yatra routes," he said.

Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage is a tour of four holy sites - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. (ANI)
