Responding to a local woman who came pleading before Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, claiming that her property was unlawfully captured, Sarma assured the lady that stringent action would be taken against the accused and that the land mafia in the state would not be spared.

He also offered consolation to the distressed woman. "We will not spare the land mafia," said the Assam Chief Minister during his interaction with the woman.

Chief Minister Sarma took to his social media handle on X and posted a video wherein he is seen consoling the woman.

The video begins with the woman frantically requesting the Chief Minister to listen to her plea, to which the Chief Minister says, "I will not go. You are standing right in front of me. Stop crying first. I will wait for 2 minutes."

Sarma, then asked the woman about the matter, and the woman said, "Someone has occupied my house."

The Chief Minister took the piece of paper the woman was carrying, handed it over to the Superintendent of Police (SP), and asked the woman to visit the official's office.

Meanwhile, CM Sarma inaugurated, laid the foundation stones, and performed a bhumi pujan of infrastructural development projects worth a total of about Rs 1,208 crore for Cachar district on Friday.

Around Rs 700 crore of the total of Rs 1,208 crore is being spent on infrastructure development in the Lakhipur subdivision in Cachar district.

Speaking at the official event held at Lakhipur, CM Sarma said the projects worth more than Rs 1200 crore that have been either inaugurated or foundation stones laid have the potential to fulfil many of the long-standing demands of the residents of Cachar district in general and Lakhipur in particular.
