Lucknow, (Uttar Pradesh) | February 20, 2024 3:54:48 PM IST
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday expressed his confidence in the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh and said, "UP se, 80 out of 80."

He said this while speaking to reporters after inspecting the Lucknow Ring Road from the Sultan Road Side.

During his interaction, he informed that the Lucknow Ring Road would be completed by February 28 and added that the inauguration of the 104-kilometer Lucknow Ring Road would be done in the first week of March.

"The people involved in the construction have said that it would be completed by February 28. In the first week of March, the inauguration of the 104-kilometer Lucknow Ring Road will be done. The people of Lucknow will get relief from the traffic problem," he said.

"The 104-kilometer-long Lucknow Ring Road has been our dream project. It is an 8-lane road," he said.

"In addition to the 13 flyovers that have already been constructed there, we plan to initiate construction work on at least 10 more flyovers that have already been approved," he added.

The Defence Minister said that developmental work should not be associated with elections and added that a representative must address their area's issues and consistently perform their responsibilities.

"Developmental activities should never be linked with elections. I believe that it is the responsibility of every representative to stay alert towards solving the problems of the area they represent and to consistently fulfil their duties. As a representative, I have tried to do everything within my capacity," he said.

Even as Rajnath Singh and the BJP strike a confident pose, the opposition INDIA bloc is searching for answers as the Congress and the Samajwadi Party have failed to strike up an alliance in the state. Sources say that the alliance is stuck due to a disagreement on two seat that the Congress wishes to contest but the SP in unwilling to let go. Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav reiterated that he would only join Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra once the agreement on seat sharing can be reached. (ANI)
