Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda lauded President Droupadi Murmu's joint address marks ahead of the Budget Session in the Parliament and said that her speech reflects the government's commitment to pave the way for building a 'developed India.'
Taking to his social media handle, Nadda posted, "The address of the President at the beginning of the budget session in the Parliament is a document of our government's commitment to pave the way for building a 'developed India' and for the all-round development of all sections of the society." The BJP President also expressed appreciativeness towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the policies under his governance have brought excellent results. "In the last 10 years, under the leadership of respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, policies dedicated to the upliftment of youth power, women power, farmers and the poor have brought remarkable results," the post said. "We are continuously moving towards the upliftment of the nation through service, good governance, the welfare of the poor and rapid development along with revolutionary decisions," it added. President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday addressed a joint sitting of the two Houses in the new Parliament building. She spoke on various aspects of the economy and highlighted achievements of the 10 years of the Narendra Modi government. In her address, the President said 2023 was a historic year for the country and among other steps, the country kept up the momentum of being the fastest-growing major economy. "The year 2023 was a historic year for India when it grew the fastest among major economies despite the global crisis. India grew about 7.5 per cent for two consecutive quarters," she said. President Droupadi Murmu's address marks the start of the Budget Session in the Indian Parliament. Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is slated to present the financial year interim budget 2024 on February 1. This will be the final annual financial statement of the BJP-led PM Narendra Modi government's second term. The interim budget will take care of the financial needs of the intervening period until a government is formed after the Lok Sabha polls. A full budget will be presented by the new government. Budget 2024 is 'interim' in nature as the government is set to face a general election in April-May this year. (ANI)
