Jammu and Kashmir govt to rename 33 schools, roads after "martyrs and eminent personalities"

The Jammu and Kashmir government issued an order on Tuesday regarding the naming of government schools and roads after "martyrs and eminent personalities".

The order specifically gives sanction for "renaming 33 government schools/colleges/roads in Jammu and Kashmir after martyrs and eminent personalities".

As per the order, in Jammu district, a high school in Akhnoor will be named after the late Rachhpal Singh, HC.

In Udhampur district, a government girl's high school in Mantalai will be named after the late rifleman Yash Paul.

In Srinagar district, a boy's high school in Narwara will be named after the late Inspector Masroor Ali Wani. In Poonch district, a high school in Ajote will be named after the late Havaldar Abdul Majid.

In Kishtwar district, a high school in Galigarh will be named after the late Rifleman Ravi Kumar.

In Ramban district, Ramsoo Chowk will be renamed "Shaheed Irshad Ahmad Chowk" after the late Irshad Ahmad, SgCt. Neel Chowk will be renamed "Shaheed Abdul Rehman Malik Chowk" after the late Abdul Rehman, HC.

The order also states that the concerned administrative secretaries shall take immediate steps to implement the changes, including amending their records. The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir/Jammu shall also personally monitor the naming of the infrastructure/assets in their respective divisions. (ANI)
