Former Bihar deputy chief minister Tarkishore Prasad said on Saturday that he will side with the centre's decision in favour of development in the state of Bihar and the entire country.

"We side with the centre's decisions for the development of Bihar and the country. What is important is how we can reduce crime in the state of Bihar. The leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi enhances prospects for Bihar in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Bihar will make progress under his leadership. How Bihar can contribute to the nation's development is crucial. There are many aspects on which central leadership is working," said Tarkishore Prasad.

On being asked why deputy chief ministers keep changing in Bihar, Tarkishore answered, saying, "Political scenarios keep changing in the state of Bihar."

"We will accept all the decisions taken by our central leadership," replied Tarkishore on the question of accepting the center's decision if Nitish Kumar joins the Bhartiya Janta Party.

"We were called to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. We will support every decision taken to attain better poll results. What is more important is the majority in democracy; that is what determines which party comes into power", he added.

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing political drama in Bihar, a Bharatiya Janata Party legislative party meeting was held at the party's office in Patna on Sunday.

Leaders of the BJP in Bihar gathered on Saturday as well to discuss the political situation in the state, which was attended by several MLAs, MPs and senior leaders.

The BJP has the largest number of 17 MPs in Bihar, where the total number of Lok Sabha members is 40. The JD(U), headed by Kumar, has 16 while another NDA ally, LJP, now split up between the uncle-nephew duo of Pashupati Kumar Paras and Chirag Paswan, has six.

In the Bihar Assembly of 243, the RJD has 79 MLAs, followed by the BJP's 78, the JD(U)'s 45, the Congress's 19, the CPI (M-L)'s 12, two each of the CPI(M) and CPI, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular)'s four seats, and the AIMIM's one, plus one independent legislator. (ANI)
