Moderate fog was reported over Haryana, Sub-Himalayan, West Bengal and Sikkim regions and shallow fog in isolated pockets of Punjab, Jammu Division, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Assam on Sunday evening, with a cold wave to severe cold wave conditions prevailing over most parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and North Madhya Pradesh, the Meteorological department said.
As per the India Meteorological Department, the visibility was recorded as less than equal to 500 metres at around 5.30 pm on Sunday in isolated regions. This included parts of Punjab, Jammu Division, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Assam. According to the India Meteorological Department, Ambala in Haryana reported 200 metres of visibility at 5:30 am today, while Ludhiana and Patiala, reported 500 metres of visibility, Pantnagar in Uttarakhand recorded visibility of 500 metres, Cooch Behar reported 200 metres of visibility, Bareilly and Fursatgunj has recorded visibility of 500 meters, Haflong in Assam, reported 500 metres of visibility and Jalpaiguri reporter visibility of 500 meters. According to the IMD, 'very dense' fog is when visibility is between 0 and 50 metres, 51 and 200 metres is 'dense', 201 and 500 metres 'moderate', and 501 and 1,000 metres 'shallow'. The visibility reported at Delhi's Palam airport was 1600 m at 5:30 pm on Sunday and the visibility reported at Safdarjung airport was 1000 m. As regards Ayodhya, visibility was 1600 m at 5:30 pm. It is showing a falling tendency with visibility reported as 1300 m at 07:00 pm on Sunday. (ANI) Earlier, The National Capital woke up to another chilling morning on Sunday as the temperature was recorded in single digit, causing inconvenience to passengers as several flights and trains were delayed. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility at Delhi-Palam was reduced from 400 meters at 2:00 am to 100 meters at 2:30 am on Sunday, and it further reduced to 0 meters since 3:00 am. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Sunday morning was recorded to be 8.5 degree celsius, as per IMD.(ANI)
