A jute-stick-laden vehicle caught fire in Assam's Darrang district on Wednesday.

According to local police, there is no report of any casualties in the incident.

The incident took place in the Gorapori area under the Dhula police station limits of Darrang district.

When the driver of the vehicle noticed that the vehicle had caught fire, he immediately brought the vehicle near a pond, after which, with the help of some villagers, the jute sticks were thrown into the pond.

Shortly after, the police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control with the help of locals.

Earlier in the day, a massive fire broke out in the Grand Trunk (GT) Road area after an oil tanker hit a divider and overturned on a flyover in the Khanna town of Ludhiana district. (ANI)
