After Gujarat etched its name in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people performing Surya Namaskar, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi expressed his happiness, saying that yoga is being adopted across the world.
This comes after Gujarat etched its name in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people performing Surya Namaskar simultaneously at the majestic Modhera Sun Temple on Monday. "Today, Gujarat has set a new record for the most people doing Surya Namaskar together. The people of Gujarat set the same kind of record in 2023 for most people performing Yoga together and today again, Gujarat has set a world record. This event was organised at 108 locations where lakhs of people have performed Surya Namaskar together," Sanghavi said. He further said that over 4000 people took part in 'Surya Namaskar' today. "Yoga is being adopted across the world," he added. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi attended the celebrations at Modhera Sun Temple, on the first morning of the year 2024. The record-breaking event, held at the majestic Modhera Sun Temple, witnessed enthusiastic participation from diverse groups, including families, students, yoga enthusiasts, and even senior citizens. The adjudicator at Guinness World Records, Swapnil Dangarikar, reached here and officially announced that the attempt was successful. "I was here to verify the record for the most people doing Surya Namaskar. This is a new title because no one had attempted to break this record before. After going through all the evidence and seeing them perform here in Modhera...They have successfully set a new Guinness World Record title for most people doing Surya Namaskar," Swapnil Dangarikar told ANI on Monday. Ahead of the start of the event, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel said that Indian culture is being praised because of PM Modi's visionary leadership. "Suryanamaskar is considered the best asana; today PM worked to take yoga to every corner of the world. Yoga is the best solution for good health. Due to the efforts of PM Modi, it got acceptance at the world level. The ancient tradition of yoga became a social movement," he added. (ANI)
