Guwahati International Airport has organised a simulated mock drill on earthquakes at the airport premises on Wednesday.

The mock exercise on earthquake preparedness was conducted at the airport office premises of the airport, under the airport operator and NDRF, with the aim of monitoring and expediting the implementation of the prescribed emergency plans.

The whole exercise was undertaken under the inspection of Jayanta Prakash, Controller NDRF, Monoj Kumar Rana, AC and state police, State Fire, ARFF, Airport Medical Team and security.

As per the plan, a sample of rescue operations was demonstrated to people in buildings damaged by the earthquake.

Many exercises were implemented, especially on how to rescue workers from the badly damaged buildings in the earthquake.

The employees and workers were briefed on the simulated drill and a beautiful drama was performed on how the CISF, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police personnel should respond within 15 minutes of the earthquake.

Representatives of CISF, fire and security, state police and NTPC first reached the spot and launched rescue operations.

The SDRF team set up an incident command post. It demonstrates the processes associated with various recovery techniques. After receiving first aid in a tent outside, people were rescued from the trapped and damaged building inside and rushed to the hospital. (ANI)
