Congress leader Girish Chodankar questioned the silence of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Income Tax raids against a member of the Town and Country Planning Board along with an IAS officer posted in Goa.

Chodankar demanded action against the accused official, urging his removal from the position.

"Six months have passed since the raid, which was conducted by upright Income Tax officials on the officer who is known as corrupt and also handling deals of Town and Country Planning. Despite this, he is continuing on the board and no action has been taken against him," Chodankar said.

He alleged that the TCP department has become an ATM for the BJP.

"By now, it is clear how CM and TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane have made money out of these illegal things. Both are out to make money from Pernem Zone planning, but people's power made them scrap it," Chodankar said.

"Despite media reports, over IT raids on this Board member, wherein corruption of crores of rupees was exposed, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and TCP minister Vishwajit Rane are mum over it. This engineer cum TCP Board member is famous for TCP's illegal deals," Chodankar alleged.

"I demand that the Chief Minister and TCP minister break their silence on this issue, else it will be assumed about their involvement in the matter," Chodankar said.

Chodankar alleged that crores of rupees were seized by the IT officials when they conducted a raid on the concerned board member.

"How can a civil engineer have such a huge amount? This is a clear case of bribery and corruption. Secondly, if corruption is not involved then the Chief Minister and TCP minister should come clear over it," he said.

Chodankar urged that corruption taking place in TCP should be stopped and 'agents' should be shown doors. (ANI)
