On the second day of his visit to the Tripura Frontier, on Thursday, Nitin Agrawal, the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), along with Sonali Mishra, the Additional Director General of the BSF (Eastern Command), visited the Border Outpost (BOP) in NC Nagar.

This outpost is under the jurisdiction of the 133 BN BSF and is located in Sonamura, within the Sepahijala district.

During the visit, DG BSF inspected the ongoing border fencing work and reviewed the operational preparedness of the BSF Battalion deployed in the area.

He also participated in an inter-battlion friendly volleyball match played between the troops.

He applauded the tireless efforts and dedication in safeguarding the borders and efforts made by BSF Tripura Frontier to prevent trans-border crimes on the Indo-Bangladesh border.

Thereafter, he interacted with the media personnel and briefed them about the present security scenario along the International Boundary (IB), efforts made to plug the fencing gaps, the erection of border fencing on the remaining unfenced patches and the use of the latest gadgets by BSF troops to keep surveillance on the activities of illegal infiltration and smuggling.

Further, the DG BSF inaugurated Border Out Post Greh Chand Para, 192 BN BSF under Dhalai district and reviewed ongoing fencing and road work.

The DG also distributed computer and study material among the students under the Civic Action Programme.

To empower women from nearby villages and promote economic self-sufficiency, the DG also distributed sewing machines and other essential items.

On Wednesday, the DG BSF took stock of the security situation and operational preparedness along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The officiating IG briefed him about various aspects of the functioning of the Tripura Frontier.

Mandated to guard the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders, the BSF is the only force of the nation with a distinctly defined wartime as well as peacetime role. It has successfully proved its mettle in accomplishing every task assigned in times of war and peace while ensuring peace and tranquillity on the border. (ANI)
