Jammu Divisional Commissioner on Wednesday met with the representatives of West Pakistani Refugees (WPR) and Displaced Persons for the years 1947, 1965, and 1971.

During the meeting, the representatives projected several demands before the Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar including the issue of land transfer, compensation under the relief package and other benefits.

Representatives also sought an expeditious process of submission of files under the relief package.

"The Divisional Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured the representatives that all their genuine issues would be considered for early resolution," the press release said.

West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs) are those who migrated from areas in West Pakistan in the wake of partition in the year 1947 and settled in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir, mainly in Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri districts of Jammu Division. (ANI)
