The forest department on Wednesday caught a wild bear, which has been terrorising the people from three weeks, from the Dergaon area in Assam's Golaghat district.

According to forest officials of Golaghat district, the wild bear was rescued from a tea garden area in Jelehua village near Dergaon.

A forest team, including experts, reached Jelehua village on Wednesday and successfully tranquillized the wild bear and safely rescued it.

Sushil Thakuria, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Golaghat district, told ANI that the wild bear had terrorised the area in the past three weeks.

"Today we have rescued the bear. We will take the animal to the rescue centre and check on its health. If it is found okay, we will release it into its habitat," Thakuria said. (ANI)
