Ahead of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the release of funds for the state government, Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that the party will hit the streets if their rightful dues are not released.

"Our CM had earlier asked the Prime Minister to release funds for Bengal. But they carry on with their politically vindictive attitude and do not release funds. Mamata Banerjee has sought an appointment from him and the meeting will take place. The central government should release the funds that are due. This is our right. However, if they try to create a financial blockade, we will hit the streets," Ghosh said speaking to ANI about the upcoming meeting between Mamata Banerjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari's allegation that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is deliberately neglecting North Bengal districts owing to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) impressive electoral performance in those areas, Kunal Ghosh said that Mamata's ties with North Bengal existed much before Suvendu Adhikari's fight.

"Mamata Banerjee's ties with North Bengal existed before Suvendu Adhikari's fight. North Bengal was a disturbed area. But now financial activities have boomed, development is ongoing, tourists are coming in and film shoots are taking place. Parliamentary democracy was installed in the hills, so Suvendu's heart is aching," Ghosh said.

On former TMC MP Mahua Moitra being asked to vacate her bungalow days after her expulsion from Lok Sabha, Ghosh attacked BJP saying that there was no Ethics Committee meeting even after Suvendu Adhhikari was caught taking bribe on camera.

"The central government misused its majority like a 'bahubali' and expelled Mahua from the House. They are in such a hurry that they have asked her to vacate her bungalow. But Suvendu Adhhikari was caught taking bribes on camera but there was no Ethics Committee meeting on that. The public will respond to this," he said. (ANI)
