As BJP win in all three Hindi heartland states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, Union Minister V Muraleedharan on Sunday termed the party's victory as the people's acceptance of double-engine government and a verdict against "family-run political parties including Congress."

"This is the verdict in favour of the pro-people government. People have accepted that double-engine government is the need of the hour. This is a verdict against the family-run political parties including Congress," Muraleedharan said while talking to ANI.

The minister also said that the verdict was also people's reply to the "fake propaganda" against the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

"This is also a verdict against the fake propaganda that was being undertaken by the opposition including that ED harassed Opposition leaders. In states like Kerala, the main opposition and ruling party, they were together campaigning that the Narendra Modi government is trying to harass the state governments of opposition-ruled states. This is a reply to all these people," he said.

In the Assembly elections in four states- Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh- the counting of which is in the final stages, as per the Election Commission data, the BJP won majorities of the seats in three North Indian States.

While in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the BJP has defeated the incumbent Congress governments, in Madhya Pradesh it has defeated the anti-incumbency in retaining the power.

However, in the South Indian state of Telangana, the Congress dethroned the BRS. (ANI)
