After Congress emerged victorious in Telanaga, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said on Sunday that the people of Telangana created history and given the mandate in favour of the Congress party.

Priyanka Gandhi termed it the victory of the people. In a post shared by her official handle on X, she wrote, "The people of Telangana have created history and given the mandate in favour of the Congress Party. This is the victory of the people of Telangana. This is the victory of the people of the state and every worker of the Congress Party."

Celebrations were seen outside the Congress office in Hyderabad over the party crossing the halfway mark comfortably. Party cadres were seen celebrating the win and chanted "Bye bye KCR".

Priyanka Gandhi also welcomed the mandate given by the people of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

"The people of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have assigned the role of opposition to the Congress Party. The people's mandate is on the head," Priyanka Gandhi posted on X.

Congress workers poured milk on a poster featuring Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi and state party chief Revanth Reddy as the party emerged as the single largest party.

The Telangana election results is important for the Congress as it heads into the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. A win in Karnataka and Telangana stamps the Congress' presence in the South.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the people of Telangana. The Congress Party is committed to peace, prosperity and progress in Telangana," she further posted on X.
