"Those responsible will not be spared": Punjab Education Minister on students hospitalised in Sangrur due to food poisoning

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Saturday said that the contractor responsible for the food supply has been arrested after 20 students were hospitalised in Sangrur due to food poisoning.

The minister also said that an inquiry committee was formed on Saturday after as many as 20 students of the Government Meritorious School at Ghabdan in Sangrur district were hospitalised at the civil hospital following suspected food poisoning.

"I have received information from Sangrur DC that 20 students of Meritorious School Sangrur were admitted to the hospital last night after complaining of food poisoning. The contractor responsible for the food supply has been arrested and his contract cancelled. An inquiry has been initiated. No one will be spared..." Bains said.

He further said that out of 20, 16 students have been discharged while the condition of the remaining four is stable.

"16 have been discharged and the condition of the remaining 4 is stable," he added. (ANI)
