Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday predicted that the BJP is not going to win in any of the five poll-going states, remarks that came hours ahead of the exit polls expected to be out later in the day.

The five poll-going states are Mizoram, Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

The remarks came on a day when polling is underway to elect legislators for the 119-member assembly in Telangana.

CM Gehlot also said that Congress will return to power in the state regardless of the exit poll results.

Speaking to reporters about the poll prospects for the party, CM Gehlot said, "No matter what exit polls say, Congress will form the government in Rajasthan. BJP is not winning in any of the 5 states".

Explaining the three reasons why Congress would be voted back to power, bucking the trend of forming alternating governments in the state, Gehlot said, "People will repeat our government in Rajasthan."

Ruling out any anti-incumbency wave against the government, Gehlot mentioned that even poll pundits are saying so.

"BJP voters will also say that the CM left no stone unturned in carrying out development work," Gehlot added.

He said that the language used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Chief Ministers and Union Ministers during the campaign was not liked by anyone.

CM Gehlot said on Tuesday that Congress will form government in all five states because of its social guarantees.

Out of the five poll-going states, Madhya Pradesh is the only state where the BJP is holding power.

In Rajasthan in 2018, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP won 73. Gehlot assumed the CM position with the support of BSP MLAs and independents.

The counting of votes, along with that in four other states, will be taken up on December 3. (ANI)
