Days before the Telangana assembly elections, the last state undergoing polls this month, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has performed well in all States and will form the government with a majority.

"The election is in the final stage and BJP has performed well in all States. We will form a government with a majority and wherever there is an opposition government even in those States we will form a government with a majority," Pathak said speaking to ANI on Monday.

Speaking on Congress' allegations that the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) is working in a secretive alliance with the BJP, he said, "These allegations keep coming up during elections. BJP has performed well in southern States."

The Deputy Chief Minister asked all members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly to abide by the new rules that have been drafted by the Speaker before the Winter session starts on Tuesday.

"The new rule has been made by the Speaker of the Assembly. All members will be abiding by the new rules. I request all members to work following the new rules and work according to the direction of the Speaker," he said.

After 66 years, the Uttar Pradesh assembly winter session will be conducted with new rules that prohibit the leaders from taking mobile phones, flags and banners to the House. In accordance with Yogi Adityanath's government initiatives on women's empowerment, the women members in the assembly will get preference to speak during the session.

All major political parties in the state, including Congress, BJP and BRS, have stepped up their campaigning processes with the last date of campaigning on Tuesday before the state goes to polls on November 30.

In the last Assembly elections in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats, while the BJP drew a blank. (ANI)
