UP Police registers FIR against several companies for "forged" Halal certificates

Uttar Pradesh Police has registered cases against several companies for allegedly selling Halal-certified products using forged documents to gain financial benefits in the name of religion.

A Halal certificate indicates that a product has been prepared in accordance with Islamic law.

Halal India Private Limited Chennai, Jamiat Ulema Hind Halal Trust Delhi, Halala Council of India Mumbai, and Jamiat Ulema Maharashtra Mumbai are some of the companies mentioned in the FIR against whom cases have been registered.

The First Information Report (FIR) was registered in Hazratganj Kotwali on a complaint of Shailendra Sharma.

"It has come to my knowledge that some companies like Halal India Pvt Ltd Chennai, Jamiat Ulema Hind Halal Trust Delhi, Halal Council of India Mumbai, Jamiat Ulema Maharashtra Mumbai, etc., cheated the customers of a particular religion by providing Halal certificates on some products in the name of religion by taking financial benefits to increase their sales. While doing so, Halal certificates are being issued for various products," the complainant said.

The cases has been registered under section various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

"Unfair profits are being earned by the above-mentioned companies by issuing Halal certificates through forged documents without any authority. Besides, public trust is also being played with. To influence a particular section, these companies are propagating using coded forms and the prescribed standards are also not being followed," the complainant added. (ANI)
