Janata Dal-United (JD(U)) National President, Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, on Wednesday took a jibe at the BJP-led Central government, saying, "The Bihar government is working for development, taking into consideration justice, while the central government is not doing any development."

"Whatever was announced yesterday in Bihar Vidhan Sabha regarding the census is a step towards development with justice...The Bihar government is working for development, taking into consideration justice, while the central government is not doing any development..." he said.

Further, the JDU Chief criticised the BJP government's 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' slogan, claiming they don't deliver on their promise of development and predicted their rejection by the people of Bihar.

"The grand alliance government in Bihar has given the slogan of development with justice and has shown it on the ground. On the other hand, people sitting in Delhi say 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' (together with all, development for all), but they take everyone's support but do not develop anyone. Such people will be rejected by the people of Bihar this time," he said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday demanded special status for Bihar state so that it can move forward and also appealed to the Centre to conduct a caste-based census across the country.

CM Nitish was addressing the Winter session of the Bihar Assembly when he said, "When a caste-based census has not been conducted till now in the country, then how come you (opposition) all are saying that some castes have increased and some have decreased? This is bogus talk. We will also appeal to the Central Government to conduct a caste-based census in the entire country so that policy can be made for everyone. Bihar is a poor state, hence, give it the status of a special state so that it can move forward." (ANI)
