Taking a swipe at the Congress government in Chhatisgarh, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Sunday said further investigations are already underway against Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) claimed his involvement in the alleged Mahadev betting app scam.

Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, amid the revelations around the alleged betting app scam in Chhattisgarh, the Jodhpur MP said, "The investigation (against Baghel) has only just begun."

"I am saying this with a lot of responsibility that the ongoing investigations in Chhattisgarh will bring a long list of scams to the fore. When the truth starts coming out, a lot of people will be seen running for cover," the veteran BJP leader said.

Accusing the grand old party of running a "one-man show" in Chhattisgarh, the Union Minister added, "The Congress members seem to have sensed that the people are about to throw them out. Many ministers and MLAs are even refusing to accept tickets."

He claimed that many sitting Congress MLAs are waiting at the chance to switch over to rival camps ahead of the two-phased Assembly polls on November 7 and 17.

"Many MLAs are about to join other parties or have already joined. This proves that not only the public but their leaders are also tired of the Congress' corruption," the BJP leader alleged.

Also gung-ho on the party's poll prospects in Rajasthan, the Union Minister added that the BJP, which is the principal Opposition force in the desert state, will emerge significantly stronger after the elections.

Taking a veiled dig at Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Sekhawat said, "One person thinks himself to be bigger than the party and has cast his whole party aside. Many people are leaving the party owing to differences with that one person."

"The lotus will bloom and the BJP will emerge significantly stronger in Rajasthan," the BJP leader claimed.

In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 99 seats while the BJP finished at 73 seats in the 200-member House.

Gehlot eventually took oath as CM with the support of BSP MLAs and Independents.

Rajasthan will go to polls on November 25 and the counting of votes is scheduled for December 3. (ANI)
