Lalduhoma, the chief ministerial face of the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), on Thursday, exuded confidence that his party is going to win the upcoming assembly election in the state with a landslide majority without having to ally with any other party.

"That question (ZPM allying with BJP or any other party) does not arise because we are going to form a government with a comfortable majority. We are sure to have a landslide victory," Lalduhoma said while talking to ANI.

He said that the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) has become a spent force.

"This time we are hoping to form a government with a positive vote. People expect a corruption-free government and a government more efficient in uplifting the poor people, particularly farmers and the youth," Lalduhoma said.

He said that a ZPM government would be a different one as all its policies are being formed based on research.

"Ever since Mizoram became a state, what we have seen is the rule of Congress and the MNF in succession. The change was only the person sitting in the chair of the Chief Minister, but the system is the same. However, what we offer to the people is a new system that will be quite different from the previous governments and all our policies are based on research and everything should be based on research," he said.

He said that all ZPM candidates have pledged to the people and god that they would not take bribes.

Lalduhoma is a former IPS officer and he is seeking re-election from the Serchhip constituency.

Mizoram is one of the five states undergoing assembly elections. Polls will be held in Mizoram on November 7 and the counting of votes will be done on December 3.

In a 40-member Mizoram assembly, the Mizo National Front bagged 26 seats with a vote share of 37.8 per cent to emerge victorious in the 2018 polls. The Congress secured five seats and BJP won one seat. (ANI)
