Congress MP from Chhindwara and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath on Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party should reveal who would be the Chief Ministerial candidate for the BJP in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.

Speaking exclusively to ANI, Congress MP Nakul Nath said, "Kamal Nath is the CM face in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh. This has been said openly by all the big leaders. I want to ask the BJP who is the CM face of the party for Madhya Pradesh?"

When asked about his remark on announcing the invitation for the swearing-in ceremony of his father, Kamal Nath, on December 7 ahead of the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls, Nakul Nath said, "I invited my party workers only; I did not invite the public. If I am inviting, you know how confident I am of winning".

On Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan's statement that Congress doesn't respect or know how to respect daughters and mothers, Nakul said, 'From the first day, Kamal Nath ji has been saying and he still maintains that Shivraj is 'Kalakaar' and people have understood his 'kalaakaari' in the last 18 years. On November 17, people will give a befitting reply to the Bharatiya Janata Party'.

Replying to the BJP state president's VD Sharma recent dig on the Kamal Nath and Divyaya Singh relationship'', Nakul Nath said VD Sharma has no issues left.

BJP State President VD Sharma on Friday took a dig at senior Congress leader Kamal Nath and former CM Digvijaya Singh for calling themselves Jai-Viru saying, 'Ye to choro ki mandali hai'.

Nakul Nath said, 'VD Sharma has no issues left. Digvijaya Singh's and Kamal Nath's friendship is a 35-year-old friendship. When Digvijaya Singh was the Chief Minister, they were friends before that and I feel that it is indeed Jai-veeru's jodi'.

The state is scheduled to vote on November 17, with the vote count taking place on December 3. Voters will choose legislators for 230 Assembly constituencies.

In the last 2018 assembly elections, Congress won 114 seats with a vote share of 40.89 per cent while the BJP came in second and managed to win 109 seats. Its vote share was 41.02 per cent. The Congress came to power with Kamal Nath taking oath as the chief minister but Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with 22 loyalist MLAs, switched over to the BJP in 2020. The BJP later formed the government with Shivraj Singh Chouhan as Chief Minister. (ANI)
