Criticising the previous state governments for hindering Kanpur's economic growth, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday stressed that the double-engine government is resolutely committed to restoring the lost glory of Kanpur and Bundelkhand.

Addressing the third Scheduled Caste (SC) conference in Kanpur, Adityanath said, "Kanpur, once hailed as the nation's foremost emerging city, stood proudly among the top three economically thriving cities in the country. Previous governments worked to undermine Kanpur's economic progress."

"Presently, Kanpur is gaining recognition as a metropolitan city and evolving into a pivotal hub for the Defence Manufacturing Corridor. The double-engine government has embarked on the development of a new industrial center spanning 38,000 acres of land, extending from Kanpur to Jhansi, on the lines of Noida. The modern infrastructure work being executed here is poised to be a transformative milestone, reshaping the fate of not only Kanpur but the entire Kanpur-Bundelkhand region," he added.

Expressing his deep respect for the Scheduled Castes, CM Yogi emphasized, "Today, you'll find Baba Saheb Ambedkar's image displayed in every government office. During the Samajwadi Party government, the name of the medical college in Tirva Kannauj was changed. SP goons broke the stone slab because they were irritated by the name Baba Saheb."

"They were afraid to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Maharishi Valmiki, Lord Ved Vyas, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Sant Ravidas for fear of losing their vote bank. These actions revealed their true faces and character. They would say one thing and do another," he added.

The Chief Minister further stated that his government is effectively expanding the program of development of 'Panch Teerths' associated with Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and is organizing the 'Akhand Ramayana Path' on the occasion of the holy birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki.

"Prime Minister Modi has declared November 26th as Indian Constitution Day. The double-engine government stands firmly by your side, dedicated to ensuring your safety, self-reliance, and respect. Rest assured, both this government and every member of the Bharatiya Janata Party are steadfastly supporting you," CM said.

Earlier today Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister inaugurated the Ved Vyas Gram Vikas Project worth Rs 1.56 crore aimed at rehabilitating the families of devotees who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Kanpur's Kortha village on October 2, 2022.

On the occasion, Yogi Adityanath also performed the 'Annaprashan Sanskar' of three infants (Divyanshi, Arnav, and Mohit), and flagged off 100 hopper tipper vehicles for waste management. He also watched a film based on the Citizen Facilitation Centre.

Reflecting on the Kortha incident, CM Yogi recounted that a year ago, 35 families were tragically affected by a trolley tractor collision. As a result, these families were left orphaned, and their lives were in grave danger.

On the occasion, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Satish Mahana, BJP State President Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, and Union Minister Bhanu Pratap Verma among others were present. (ANI)
